Laura Ingalls Wilder and the Little House books.
Laura
Ingalls Wilder was born February 7, 1867 seven miles north of the village of
Pepin in the “Big Woods” of Wisconsin to Charles Phillip Ingalls and Caroline
Ingalls. She had 4 siblings Mary Amelia, Caroline Celestia Ingalls, Charles
Frederic Ingalls, and Grace Pearl Ingalls.
In 1869 when Laura was two years old when they moved to Rothville Missouri. After 4 years they moved back to Wisconsin. Because they were on Indian Territory. Laura’s religion is Methodist.
She attended high school and never graduated. When Laura was 16 she became a teacher at De Smet School. She later said she did not enjoy teaching she just felt responsible at a young age. Laura was an ancestor of the 32nd president of the United States Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
She got married to Almanzo Wilder. They had two Children. One was a girl her name was Rose Wilder lane. The other was a boy he died before he could be named. Rose grew up to be a writer.
Laura wrote 8 books she finished her last book in 1943. Her 8 books are Little house in the big woods, Little house on Prairie, Farmer boy, On the banks of Plum Creek, By the Shores of Silver Lake, The long Winter, Little town on the Prairie, These happy golden years, and The First four years. Sadly she died February 10 , 1957 in Manifest.
